The Les Schwab Invitational presented by Express Employment Professionals has released first round matchups and brackets. The 18th annual edition of the Les Schwab Invitational opens up December 27 at Liberty (Hillsboro, Ore.).
The 2013 LSI, the 18th edition of Oregon’s top holiday tournament, features three teams ranked in the preseason Student Sports FAB 50 national rankings — No. 3 Whitney Young (Chicago), No. 9 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and No. 12 Rainier Beach (Seattle). The event also features 12 of the best teams in the state of Oregon — including regionally ranked West Linn (West Linn, Ore.). West Linn is the only Oregon program to begin the season ranked in the Student Sports West Region Top 20 rankings.
Whitney Young and Bishop Gorman were placed in opposite brackets, so it looks Rainier Beach gets the toughest draw, potentially having to face Mr. Basketball USA candidate Jahlil Okafor and Whitney Young in the semifinals on December 29 at 9 pm. Bishop Gorman, led by junior center Stephen Zimmerman, avoids Rainer Beach on its side of the bracket and could potentially face West Linn in the other semifinal.
