New FAB 50 National Rankings
After a close call in conference play, Curie of Chicago remains the No. 1 team in the Student Sports FAB 50, which also doesn’t see any movement in its top 10. It won’t be easy for the Condors the rest of the way, however, as a potential showdown looms down the line with No. 6 Whitney Young of Chicago. The Dolphins play this week in the game of the week at the Nike Extravaganza in Southern California where they will square off against No. 4 Mater Dei of Santa Ana. The Monarchs’ two games at the Nike Extravaganza will provide two great comparative scores against No. 2 Montverde Academy of Florida and No. 3 Rainier Beach of Seattle.

Memorable Weekend For Mike Jones
DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.) coach Mike Jones gets his 300th win at the Hoophall Classic over MLK weekend, knocking off a FAB 50-ranked team in the process. Not only did Jones reach a milestone win, his team broke into this week’s FAB 50 a day after he was announced as coach of the 2014 USA Junior National Select Team.

Updated FAB 50 National Rankings
For the second consecutive season, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday hoops bonanza has seen the nation’s No. 1 ranked team lose in a showdown of top-ranked teams at the Hoophall Classic in Massachusetts. On both occasions, the team on the losing end was Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), but this year the scenario was a bit different because the Eagles were unbeaten coming in and the No. 2 ranked team also lost at the same event. Check out the new national pecking order with results through games on MLK Monday and our explanation for placing Curie (Chicago) as the newly crowned No. 1.

The Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. shakes up the Student Sports FAB 50 national rankings as No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) and No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) both go down on MLK Monday. Both the Eagles and Oak Hill lose to top 10 ranked teams from Chicago with dominant big men.
