A couple of playoff upsets allow Jefferson of Portland to crack the Top 25 of the Student Sports FAB 50. The Democrats won a state title in a most unusual fashion among top teams around the country wrapping up their seasons. Teams that end their season with a state title or are still competing for one have a rankings advantage this week, but an entire seasonal resume will be taken into greater consideration once the season is complete. The Dick’s Nationals bracket will also cause some movement in the final FAB 50 of the season scheduled for April 7.

Players of the Week
A McDonald’s All-American and playoff heroes on FAB 50-ranked teams headline tenth and final group of Student Sports National Player of the Week honorees in 2014. These honorees are chosen based on performances from games played from March. 3 – March 7 with some from earlier this week and are based on the same geographical breakdowns as our regional Top 20 team rankings.

2014 Jordan Brand Classic Team Announced
The 2014 Jordan Brand Classic team was recently announced, headlined by four Duke recruits and four headed to Kentucky. Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) is the only high school program with multiple selections. One fifth-year player and four players not chosen to the McDonald’s All-American team (L.J. Peak, Shaqquan Aaron, Daniel Hamilton, Kameron Chatman) were selected.

Field Set For Dick’s Nationals
Five of the top seven teams in the Student Sports FAB 50 boys basketball rankings will participate in the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School National Tournament from April 3-5 in New York City. The championship game could potentially be a match up of the nation’s top two ranked teams.

New FAB 50 National Rankings
Roller coaster ride for Curie of Chicago comes to a close after Condors lose their first round game in Illinois Class 4A state tournament. This is the week we start to see some major movement because of playoff upsets, as three new teams crack the top 10 in additional to six clubs moving into the top 25. Curie’s ouster means a potential No. 1 vs. No. 2 FAB 50 matchup could take place at the Dick’s Sporting Goods National High School Tournament in New York at the conclusion of the season.
