With its 67-44 victory over Corona del Mar (Calif.) Friday night, veteran coach Gary McKnight of FAB 50 No. 17 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) became the 14th reported coach nationwide to win 1,000 career games. FAB 50 No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) uses two runs, and the ability of Mr. Basketball USA front-runner Ben Simmons, to defeat No. 6 Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, Calif.) 78-64 in showdown at Montverde’s home gym. Most of the Eagles’ tests the rest of the season will be away from home.

Eleven games across ESPN family of networks began December 8. Grassroots Hoops FAB 50 No. 1 Montverde Academy to appear twice, including December 12 matchup with No. 6 Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, Calif.). Bishop O’Dowd and No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) also will appear twice.

Montverde Academy of Florida remains in the top spot in the first GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50 rankings of the 2014-15 regular season. Oak Hill Academy of Virginia and Findlay Prep of Nevada hold their spots at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively, which the change beginning at No. 4. There are ten newcomers to the rankings with the highest being No. 23 Atascocita (Humble, Texas).
