Updated FAB 50 National Rankings
Loyola of Los Angeles and Arlington Country Day of Jacksonville fall from the top 10 after on-court losses last week. Arlington Country Day’s loss was later ruled a forfeit victory while Loyola loses final game of the regular season before jumping into the loaded CIF Southern Section Open Division playoffs this week. Top-ranked Curie of Chicago could meet No. 8 Whitney Young on Friday for Chicago Public League title if both win Wednesday semifinal contests.

New FAB 50 National Rankings
Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.) falls from the top 10 after a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference loss to newcomer O’Connell (Arlington, Va.). The Panthers remain in the top 25 because of their overall strength of schedule and a victory later in the week over DeMatha Catholic. The upcoming WCAC playoffs and other section post-season games are sure to cause changes in the next two weeks after this week brings only four newcomers to the FAB 50.

Like Cliff: Memorable Individual Performances
Power forward Cliff Alexander put together a memorable performance to help Curie (Chicago) knock off the No. 1 team in the Student Sports FAB 50 over MLK weekend. It was the best solo performance on a big stage in recent memory. Naturally, we dug in our memory bank and archives for the other top individual performances against a top-ranked team since the turn of the century.

Updated FAB 50 National Rankings
For the second consecutive season, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday hoops bonanza has seen the nation’s No. 1 ranked team lose in a showdown of top-ranked teams at the Hoophall Classic in Massachusetts. On both occasions, the team on the losing end was Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), but this year the scenario was a bit different because the Eagles were unbeaten coming in and the No. 2 ranked team also lost at the same event. Check out the new national pecking order with results through games on MLK Monday and our explanation for placing Curie (Chicago) as the newly crowned No. 1.

The Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. shakes up the Student Sports FAB 50 national rankings as No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) and No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) both go down on MLK Monday. Both the Eagles and Oak Hill lose to top 10 ranked teams from Chicago with dominant big men.
