New FAB 50 National Rankings
Whitney Young of Chicago clinches final top 10 ranking by capturing Illinois Class 4A state title. State champions also crowned in New York, Michigan and New Jersey. We actually waited to release this week’s rankings to include Monday’s New Jersey Tournament of Champions final. The season has two weeks left with state champions crowned in California this weekend and the Dick’s Sporting Goods National High School Tournament concluding on April 5.

Updated FAB 50 National Rankings
A couple of playoff upsets allow Jefferson of Portland to crack the Top 25 of the Student Sports FAB 50. The Democrats won a state title in a most unusual fashion among top teams around the country wrapping up their seasons. Teams that end their season with a state title or are still competing for one have a rankings advantage this week, but an entire seasonal resume will be taken into greater consideration once the season is complete. The Dick’s Nationals bracket will also cause some movement in the final FAB 50 of the season scheduled for April 7.

Field Set For Dick’s Nationals
Five of the top seven teams in the Student Sports FAB 50 boys basketball rankings will participate in the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School National Tournament from April 3-5 in New York City. The championship game could potentially be a match up of the nation’s top two ranked teams.

Roller coaster ride for Curie of Chicago comes to a close after Condors lose their first round game in Illinois Class 4A state tournament. This is the week we start to see some major movement because of playoff upsets, as three new teams crack the top 10 in additional to six clubs moving into the top 25. Curie’s ouster means a potential No. 1 vs. No. 2 FAB 50 matchup could take place at the Dick’s Sporting Goods National High School Tournament in New York at the conclusion of the season.

Updated FAB 50 National Rankings
An eligibility ordeal in Chicago that has drawn national attention did not shake up the Student Sports FAB 50 — at least not this week. Top-ranked Curie of Chicago had all of its regular season wins forfeited, but on Monday the IHSA ruled the Condors can compete in the Illinois Class 4A state tournament. Curie will have a tough road to a state title while the mythical national title hopes of another public school in the Pacific Northwest became much stronger due to another key off-the-court development.

Rainier Beach’s Big Opportunity
On Wednesday the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) waived regulations that restricted member school Rainier Beach (Seattle) from potentially participating in the Dick’s Sporting Goods National High School Tournament in April. This decision could have long-term ramifications towards the goal of crowning a true national high school basketball championship on the court.
