Only three new teams crack this week’s GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50 national rankings, but there are also three new teams in the top 10. The recurring themes are to not harshly penalize teams that lose to another ranked foe, reward teams that have played tough schedules and reward teams that are still unbeaten at this point of the season.

For the second consecutive season, forfeit losses for a nationally-ranked club in the GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50 shakes up the national rankings picture. Updated FAB 50 National Rankings
There are 10 new teams in this special MLK edition of the GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, which includes results through Monday’s games. Montverde Academy of Florida is still No. 1 with two teams hot on the Eagles’ tail for the top spot. Linden (N.J.) leads the newcomers at No. 22 after two big wins last week with Iowa City West of Iowa cracking the FAB 50 in the final spot in the new rankings.

New FAB 50 National Rankings
There are only four new teams in the GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, but for the second consecutive week there is a new No. 1 after previous No. 1 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) went down at the Penny Hardaway HoopFest. The new No. 1 is a familiar team to coaches, players and fans who follow the rankings. Among the four newcomers, Montrose Christian (Rockville, Md.) is the highest ranked at No. 44.

The New Year brings big changes to the GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, as Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) takes over the No. 1 spot. The big rankings question this week is what to do with previous No. 1 Montverde Academy and the Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.) team that beat the Eagles. There are 14 newcomers to the rankings with the highest being No. 16 Patrick School (Elizabeth, N.J .), which could be in hot water with the NJSIAA.

No. 1 Montverde Passes Another Test
FAB 50 No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) uses two runs, and the ability of Mr. Basketball USA front-runner Ben Simmons, to defeat No. 6 Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, Calif.) 78-64 in showdown at Montverde’s home gym. Most of the Eagles’ tests the rest of the season will be away from home.

ESPN TV Schedule Announced
Eleven games across ESPN family of networks began December 8. Grassroots Hoops FAB 50 No. 1 Montverde Academy to appear twice, including December 12 matchup with No. 6 Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, Calif.). Bishop O’Dowd and No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) also will appear twice.

Oak Hill Academy of Virginia and Findlay Prep of Nevada hold their spots at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively, which the change beginning at No. 4. There are ten newcomers to the rankings with the highest being No. 23 Atascocita (Humble, Texas).
